Dear feminist and LGBTQI Activists!
RQAC invite you to three events which are going to take place between May 18th and 20th, during the 8th Feminist Conference in Budapest…

SOLIDARITY FORUM
Transnational Meeting of Feminist and LGBTQI Activists
This forum is going to be a knowledge-sharing session. Some local activists will discuss the current social and legal situation in Hungary.
Members of NANE, Patent, Labrisz and the Radical Queer Affinity Collective will be present, and more to come!
Speakers:
Angéla Kóczé (Roma women), Gábor Kuszing (LGBT issues), Judit Wirth, RQAC, Moderator: Dóri Redai (Labrisz)
Our testimony is rooted in a political context in which public policies are openly misogynist and lesbo/trans/homophobic. We will give an overview of the state of LGBTQI and women’s rights and share our preoccupations and strategies of resistance.
We are welcoming every activist and thinker to join us.
We have called this forum because we believe that feminism is a border-crossing movement and we would like to create a platform for practice transfer and knowledge sharing.
We consider the 8th European Feminist Research Conference to be a good opportunity to meet and get to know activists from diverse contexts.

SPEAK UP FOR WOMEN’S AND LGBTQI RESISTANCE!
DEMO
Background info:
This year the constitution has been changed in several parts. One of these changes addresses one of the basis of women’s rights: to have access to abortion whenever it is needed or desired. The status of the foetus according to the new law is fully equal with that of the woman, mining the basis of the law that decriminalizes abortion. What we can aspect and we want to fight in time is a reform of the abortion law in an illiberal direction. The Family Law reform is aimed directly at ruling a society in a heterosexist framework. As if the discrimination against LGBTQI people is not enough, in the streets, where the police have made repeated attempts to ban the Pride march and marchers have been attacked by counter-protesters from the extreme right. Violence against women is now increasing along with hate crimes and institutional racism against Roma community. A year ago hate groups went on harassing the Roma population of the town of Gyöngyöspata for months with little state response taking place. The recently published report of the committee set up to investigate the circumstances shifts responsibility from state actors to activists, NGOs, and the opposition. Meanwhile, one in five women in Hungary are subject to some form of domestic violence, while legal protections are insufficient. Ágnes Geréb, a midwife known for promoting home-births, is still in home custody before she starts her two-year term in prison for malpractice. She has appealed for clemency to the President.
In order to strengthen our stances, not enough represented by the media and not enough heard, we call for a meeting and a protest that enables a platform of sharing experience, resisting the power and fighting back.
